MAC Learning Center utilizes the Montessori Approach Curriculum. Basically, it is a Montessori Preschool catering to children 1.8 – 4 years old.
But what is it exactly?
Foundation of Montessori Education
The Montessori Method of education, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, is a child-centered educational approach based on scientific observations of children from birth to adulthood. Dr. Montessori’s Method has been used for over 100 years in many parts of the world.
It is a view of the child as one who is naturally eager for knowledge and capable of initiating learning in a supportive, thoughtfully prepared learning environment. It is an approach that values the human spirit and the development of the whole child—physical, social, emotional, cognitive. -source: Montessori Education
Montessori School Education
Parts vital for a program to be considered legitimately Montessori incorporate multi-age groups that encourage peer learning, continuous time of work time, and a guided selection of tasks. Furthermore, a full supplement of uniquely composed Montessori learning materials and educational resources are carefully selected and accessible for use in an environment that is conducive to learning.
In a Montessori school, the classroom is set up by the instructor to empower order, independence, and freedom. The child, through his/her own individual choice, uses any resource or material that is available to him/her to help develop himself/herself. Interaction with their teacher is encouraged only when the students need guidance.
Elements of a Montessori School
Multi-age groupings are a sign of the Montessori Method: younger kids get to learn from older kids; more seasoned kids strengthen their learning by showing ideas they have effectively aced. This course of action likewise reflects this present reality, where people work and associate with individuals of any age and demeanors.
Upon observation, Dr. Montessori learned that as kids grow and develop, they encounter sensitive periods or windows of opportunity. As students develop, Montessori instructors coordinate suitable lessons and materials to these sensitive periods when learning is most naturally absorbed by children.
In early adolescence, Montessori students learn through tactile engine exercises, working with materials that build up their psychological abilities through direct understanding: what they see, hear, taste, smell, touch, and with movement.
